St. James tells us to draw near to God and he will draw near to us. That’s an invitation we should not refuse. Just how does one “draw near?” For the next eight weeks we’ll examine the book of Leviticus to see how the ancient Hebrews responded to this same invitation from the God who met Moses at the burning bush and re-ordered the community of those who had been oppressed in Egypt. We will discover very specific directives about how God should – and should not be -approached, and we’ll see how the Mosaic system is resolved in the person of the Messiah in the New Testament.
