Who We Are

All Saints Church is a community of faith at the campus of New Covenant Schools. Our ministers, the Rev’d Davidson Morse, Rector and the Rev’d John Heaton, Associate Priest, are primarily employed in the work of the school as Chaplain and Headmaster respectively. While our ministers serve in the leadership of the school, they also serve the broader Lynchburg area through the ministry of All Saints.

Our story

All Saints is a welcoming body of faithful Christians and is truly “for all the saints.” Our participants come from diverse backgrounds, but gather in shared worship around a tradition common to all Christians. We encourage you to experience the blessing of a traditional liturgy and discipleship in the Anglican way.

All Saints is a parish of the Diocese of the Central States of the Reformed Episcopal Church. Sunday services are customarily held in the Marie Macdonald Chapel on the campus of New Covenant Schools. Effective March 22, 2020, worship services are being offered online only until further notice.

Founded on the first Sunday of Advent, 2012, All Saints Church is a traditional Episcopal parish born out of a desire to maintain a faithful witness to Christ expressed in the Anglican tradition.

Our heritage descends from the Church as it was planted and formed in England in ancient times. Christianity came to the British Isles with the Roman legions in the 2nd century A.D.

Augustine (of Canterbury, not Hippo) came to England later as a missionary from Rome in A.D. 597 only to find that Christianity had already reached the island. Thus our church taps into a most ancient faith, and is, in this sense, “catholic” or universal. All Saints therefore seeks to be old and new at the same time.

The Anglican way of faith and discipleship approaches our spiritual formation in a textured way. Daily prayer is directed by our Prayer Book; but there are also the disciplines of faith, such as works of charity, alms-giving and fasting. Each week and on feast days we celebrate the Eucharistic liturgy in which we become active participants in the passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We hope to nourish our families and one another by following the Lord of Life who is himself eternal and unchangeable, and who calls us to hope in our own resurrection. We want to find our place in the rhythm of prayer and of sacrament as the seasons roll on, and call the world to be transformed by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
